Venture all the way to the northwest corner of America and you'll find Seattle, the "emerald city" by the bay. Londoners will feel right at home with its mild temperatures, misty air, and dense urban environment. Flannel, beards, microbrews and farm raised free trade organics are the bread and butter of this town, and you'll be hard pressed to find a commercial chain eatery or storefront (except Starbucks of course, which is based here).
Beyond the peninsula of Seattle however lies the entirely different world of Washington State, which is rural, rugged, lush and beautiful. Many of America's finest state parks are here, including Olympic National Park, The North Cascades and Mount Rainier, the tallest mountain in continental United States.
